How To Make A Beef Or Seafood Lasagne

Bring a touch of Italy to your dining table by creating an easy-to-make yet utterly delicious lasagne meal.

For a basic or classic lasagne that serves 4 to 6 people you will require the following ingredients:

  • 500 grams of mince
  • 1 onion
  • A garlic clove or 1 teaspoon of crushed garlic
  • 250 grams of lasagne sheets or fresh pasta
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped herbs
  • A 415gram can of tomato soup
  • 2 cups of cream
  • 1 ½ cups grated cheese
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • Oil

Start by heating the oil in a frying pan. Add the onion and garlic, slowly sautéing them until they are tender. Combine with the mince, and once this has browned, the herbs. Pour the tomato soup over the mixture and simmer for 10 minutes.

Grease a casserole dish and line it with some of the lasagne sheets or pasta. Pour in one third of the mince mixture, and then drizzle half a cup of cream over the top. Sprinkle one third of the grated cheese over the mixture to complete the first layer.

Continue to form layers using the above process until all the mince is used up. Complete the lasagne by adding a final layer of the lasagne sheets or pasta, and sprinkle this with the parmesan cheese.

Heat the oven to 180 degrees. Bake with the lid on the casserole dish for 10 minutes. Remove the lid and cook for a further 15-20 minutes.

Serve with fresh salad, garlic bread and maybe a glass of wine to create a scrumptious Italian meal that the whole family will enjoy!

Ingredient variations:

Instead of tomato soup trying using diced tomatoes or a pasta sauce. The cream can also be replaced by a cheese or white sauce for a slightly different flavour.

Feeling really adventurous? Try making this fabulous seafood lasagne.

The ingredients include:

  • 125 grams lasagne sheets or fresh pasta
  • 650 grams mixed seafood (for example shrimp, haddock, crab)
  • 3 cups white sauce
  • 3/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 1/2 crushed, dried tarragon

In a greased dish create a layer of lasagne sheets or pasta. On top of this add up to half the seafood mixture, and one third of each of the cheeses. Cover with another layer of lasagne sheets/pasta and repeat process until the seafood is used up.

Add a final layer of the lasagne sheets or pasta and pour the white sauce over the dish. Sprinkle the remaining cheese to complete the lasagne and cook in the oven for 30 minutes at 180 degrees.

For extra flavour add sautéed mushrooms with the seafood in each layer of the lasagne.
